It’s with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dr Eileen Winter, a valued colleague and much-loved friend.
Eileen was a leading academic and educational psychologist with a passionate commitment to inclusion. Through her research, and leadership Eileen made significant contributions to the development of inclusive education in Ireland and beyond. Eileen served as Director of Academic and Research Programmes at ICEP Europe for many years and developed a range of innovative postgraduate programmes in Ireland and the UK. She was involved in the pioneering NCSE Project IRIS Study on inclusion and Special Educational Needs, and though her research and teaching has influenced generations of educators and learners.
Eileen’s career took her all over the world- she lectured in psychology and education in Canada, New Zealand and also closer to home at the School of Education, Queen’s University, Belfast.
We are privileged to have had her as a valued friend and colleague, she will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we will miss her greatly.
Our condolences to her family in this difficult time. May she rest in peace.
