AIRED
Artificial Intelligence Reshapes EDucation
Overview and Objectives
AI has invaded the professional field and creative spaces in a pervasive and irreversible way, demonstrating spectacular performance in the assistance it provides in many professional practices. This rapid integration of AI is further accelerated by the rapid shift to telecommuting and flexibility, which have developed in every corner of the world. So, to the need for ergonomic, unified and cost- effective software in all areas, has been added the need to simplify and automate certain procedures in order to improve efficiency. This is a task for which AI is perfectly suited.
The global AI market in 2023 was valued at $327 billion, and its overall value could grow and its value could increase by37,3% a year until 2030. Currently, customer service and sales automation account for 72.9% of all uses, and artificial intelligence is still little used in training. Only 7% of organizations in the education sector currently use AI.
In this context, the AIRED project aims to prepare the current and next generation of educators and all those involved in the knowledge chain to integrate artificial intelligence tools intoย their work, while maintaining human creativity and ethical considerations, promoting evidence based solutions for societal challenges in education, social justice, equity, and inclusion. This objective will be achieved by offering them, at the vocational training and higher education level, an innovative training program based on the following question: “How can AI enhance innovation and creativity in the design and production of teaching materials to create training adapted to all audiences?”.
Based on this challenge, the AIRED partners have identified 4 specific objectives to achieve this goal:
- Identify, through reasoned research, how to reconcile the needs of target audiences with existing AI tools, mapping their skills and activity chains to determine the best uses within a secure, ethical and inclusive perimeter.
- Train trainers, content production teams and students to master and exploit AI tools to their advantage, keeping humans at the heart of new creative practices, without fear of being replaced by task automation.
- Make pedagogues aware of their responsibility to use AI ethically, legally, fairly and responsibly when implementing their productions, in order to secure the quality of content produced and distributed, as guarantors of learning compliance.
- Promoting a more open minded generation of pedagogues and teachers, open to atypical career paths.
Activities/Outputs
In practice, the project will follow a multi-stage methodology incorporating:
- An in-depth assessment of learners’ skills, pre-existing knowledge and needs
- With a methodical, structured approach to training value chains, working to identify and map novel AI-assisted design and production methodsย
- The development of open-access training content, including interactive supports and school and company cases, and the implementation ofย quality management system
- The creation of an e-learning platform to ensure full accessibility of content
- The development of a pilot application integrated into the platform, based on generative AI solutions to present direct applications in the creation of educational content
- An ethical guide on the use of AI in professional practices, enabling AI solutions to be adopted effectively, responsibly and fairly, while respecting the ownership and confidentiality of private data
Impact
AIRED will have a significant impact on the democratization of AI processes in the creation of school and corporate training curricula. AIRED will directly improve the understanding and working skills of current and future educational and creative teams in integrating AI tools into their practices. Indirectly, this will have an impact on teachers, employees and companies alike, who will benefit from innovative methods, better professional prospects and increased productivity. AIRED will have a positive impact on scientific knowledge and on educationalists’ perception of AI processes. In the long term, the partners expect AIRED to facilitate digital integration in training at European level, improving the quality and competitiveness of public and private training organizations, enhancing their understanding of the potential of new technologies and promoting their fair and responsible use.
