Dr. Therese McPhillips

Dr. Therese McPhillips has wide experience as a primary school teacher, and former principal of a special school for pupils with dyslexia. She was a former lecturer in the School of Language, Literacy an Early Childhood Education in Dublin City University and has taught across a range of undergraduate and masters programs in language and literacy, dyslexia, and inclusion.

Therese has lectured on literacy and dyslexia for ICEP Europe and the University of East London, and DCU and in collaboration with Hibernia College. She was the founder and former director of the Masters in SpLD/Dyslexia, introduced in DCU in 2015, and has extensive experience supervising theses at masters and doctorate level.

Therese has extensive research experience and has worked on large scale projects including Project IRIS, and commissioned research reports for the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, the Standing Committee on Teacher Education North and South, and Child Development Ireland among others. She also collaborated on several European projects, more recently, an Erasmus project on Dyslexia in the Workplace, (2020). Currently she is involved in developing an early screening tool for dyslexia.

She also works in a voluntary capacity as academic advisor to Solidarity Teacher Training College in Yambio, South Sudan to develop their English literacy curriculum for trainee teachers.
