Stacey Mellon
Stacey is a Practitioner Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. She has 16 years of experience working with children, adults, and families within the education sector in Northern Ireland, in a variety of roles. For seven years, Stacey worked within the Educational Psychology Service, Education Authority (Northern Ireland), providing consultation, assessments and advice to parents and schools regarding children and young people across the age range of 0-19 years. From September 2022, Stacey has been working as an Independent Educational Psychologist within a Community Interest Company in Northern Ireland. She has also worked as a Locum Educational Psychologist.
Prior to pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Stacey completed a Master of Science degree in Autism Spectrum Disorders and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (Social Sciences – Psychology). Inclusive education has been at the core of Stacey’s research and practice from early in her career. In part fulfilment of the Doctorate in Educational, Child and Adolescent Psychology, Stacey undertook research investigating a sense of school belonging in young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder in mainstream education. As a practitioner, Stacey aims to support inclusive practices via advice and recommendations for schools and parents, following assessment and/or consultation on a range of neurodivergent differences, general learning needs and specific learning difficulties. Stacey is currently Module lead for the Inclusive Education Module on the MA in Special and Additional Learning Needs which is delivered in partnership with the University of East London.
