ADI-R Diagnostic Training Course
A three-day professional certification in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule — the world's leading observational assessment tool for autism.
The gold standard in autism observational assessment
ICEP Europe is pleased to offer a comprehensive three-day online course on the administration of the Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R). The ADI-R is a structured, in-depth clinical interview with caregivers, widely considered a “gold-standard” tool for diagnosing autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in children and adults. It assesses communication, social interaction, and restricted behaviours.
The ADI-R is typically conducted in conjunction with the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule Second Edition (ADOS-2), by combining direct behavioural observation (ADOS-2) with a detailed developmental history (ADI-R). To learn more about our ADOS-2 training, see here.

As an internationally recognised diagnostic tool, the ADI-R course is open to participants from all over the world. No part of the training requires that participants reside in Ireland, as all sessions are fully online.
Please note that date and times for training are set in Irish Standard Time (IST) / Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Ensure that you account for potential time zone differences when attending training.

Please note that these materials do not include the official ADI-R manual, which can be purchased from:
Those who wish to use the ADI-R should have prior education, training, and experience in diagnostic evaluation of autism and/or neurodevelopmental disorders. A certification in the ADI-R alone does not qualify anyone to diagnose autism.
By becoming certified in ADI-R, practitioners can participate in the broader clinical assessment of autism. The assessment should also include an observational assessment, such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule Second Edition (ADOS-2) and consideration of differential diagnoses, typically within a multidisciplinary team.
To see our upcoming ADOS-2 course offerings, see here.
It may also be helpful to check the specific requirements for diagnosing autism within your country and/or your professional regulatory body, as these can vary.
All ICEP Europe professional training courses are designed to be inclusive of all learners, with teaching approaches that accommodate a range of learning styles, backgrounds, and professional experiences. Training sessions facilitate flexibility and accessibility by being fully online, transcribed live, and offering real-time technical support.
Additionally, the ADI-R course utilises clear, informed, and neuroinclusive language that recognises and values neurodiversity, avoiding deficit-based framing and promoting a strengths-informed perspective on autism.
If you require certain accommodations to make training more accessible, let us know by contacting adirtraining@icepe.eu.
Research reliability is a separate process which involves submitting a video of yourself administering ADI-R, together with your coding. A trainer will review the video and provide detailed feedback on both the administration and coding.
If you cannot and/or would prefer not to pay by bank card, you can contact adirtraining@icepe.eu about alternate payment methods. Our staff will direct you accordingly.
